1.1. Who we are and what this covers
NarrativePro Addons is an online marketplace for Unreal Engine addons, operated by Narrative ([COUNSEL] insert full registered company name, company number and registered office address) at narrativeaddons.com. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that entity; "you" means the person or organisation using the site.
These terms apply whenever you visit the site, create an account, place an order or use an addon you licensed through us. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
If you list addons for sale, the Seller Agreement also applies to you and takes precedence over these terms wherever the two deal with the same subject.
NarrativePro Addons is the only authorised distribution partner of narrative tools addons. That relationship concerns distribution rights for Narrative Tools addons and does not make Narrative Tools a party to this agreement or responsible for the acts of any seller.
2.2. Definitions
- "Addon" means any digital product listed on the site, including plugins, code, Blueprints, assets, source files, documentation and sample content.
- "Seller" means the person or organisation that authored an addon and listed it for sale.
- "Version" means a specific release of an addon, identified by a semantic version number and delivered as a downloadable package.
- "Entitlement" means the record of your right to download and use a specific addon, created when your order is paid.
- "Licence key" means the unique identifier issued with an entitlement.
- "Refund window" means the 14-day period after purchase described in our Refund Policy.
- "Order" means a completed purchase transaction, identified by an order number.
3.3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account, and at least 18 to make a purchase. If you are creating an account for a company, studio or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it, and "you" then means that organisation.
You must give accurate account information and keep it current, in particular the email address we use to send receipts, licence keys and security notices. You are responsible for everything done through your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
One person or organisation, one account. Creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated promotional pricing, evade a suspension, or manipulate reviews or rankings is a breach of these terms.
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Closing your account does not by itself terminate licences you have already paid for, and does not entitle you to a refund outside our Refund Policy.
4.4. Our role: marketplace and merchant of record
Addons are created by sellers, not by us. Except where a listing plainly identifies us as the author, we did not write the code and we do not control it. The seller is responsible for the addon, its description, its documentation and its ongoing support.
We are, however, the merchant of record for your purchase. You contract with us for the supply of the addon, we take the payment, we appear on your statement, and we handle taxes on the transaction where they apply. You do not need to contract with the seller separately, and you should not be asked to.
We review listings before they are published, but that review is a sanity check on description, packaging and obvious policy breaches. It is not a security audit, a code review or a warranty that an addon is fit for your project.
5.5. Listings, prices and availability
Prices are shown in the currency stated on the listing and are set by the seller. Where tax applies to your purchase it is calculated and shown before you confirm the order.
A listing is an invitation to buy, not an offer. Your order is an offer to buy, and the contract forms when we send you the order confirmation. If a price or description was obviously wrong, for example a decimal point in the wrong place, we may decline the order and refund you in full rather than supply at that price.
Sellers may run promotions and issue discount codes. A code is valid only for the period, products and usage limits set on it, cannot be combined with another code unless we say so, has no cash value and can be withdrawn at any time before it is used.
Listings can be changed, repriced or withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal of a listing does not affect a licence you have already bought.
6.6. Payment
We take payment through Stripe and PayPal. We do not receive or store your full card number; those details go directly to the payment provider. See our Privacy Policy for what we do hold.
You confirm that you are entitled to use the payment method you present and that there are sufficient funds or credit available. If a payment is reversed, disputed or fails after an entitlement has been issued, we may suspend access to the affected addon until the position is resolved.
Payment is captured into our platform account. It is held there for the refund window before any share of it is distributed to the seller or to our revenue partners. That mechanism is described in the Refund Policy and, from the seller's side, in the Seller Agreement.
7.7. Licence granted to you
When your order is paid we create an entitlement and issue a licence key. Subject to these terms and to payment in full, the seller grants you, and we pass through to you, a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to use the addon, at the licence tier shown on the listing:
- Single user: one named individual may use the addon. Install it on as many of your own machines as you like, but the licence follows the person.
- Studio: any individual within the single legal entity that bought the licence may use the addon, on that entity's projects.
- Unlimited: use across your organisation and its affiliates without a seat count.
Within that scope you may: use the addon in commercial and non-commercial Unreal Engine projects; modify it for your own use; and distribute it as an integral, compiled part of a product you ship, where it cannot practically be extracted and reused on its own.
You may not: redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish or share the addon or its source in a form in which it can be reused as an addon; upload it to another marketplace, asset pack, template or public repository; remove or alter copyright, licence or attribution notices; use it to build a product whose main purpose is to substitute for the addon itself; or share your licence key or account credentials.
The licence is perpetual for the versions you were entitled to download while your entitlement was active. It ends if the item is refunded, if the entitlement is revoked for breach, or if your account is terminated for cause.
Some addons include third-party or open-source components under their own licences. Those licences govern those components and are listed in the addon's documentation. Where an open-source licence gives you broader rights, it prevails for that component.
[COUNSEL] The three tiers above mirror the licence types the platform can issue. Confirm the wording of the "integral compiled part" carve-out, which is the operative distinction for engine plugins.
8.8. Delivery, versions and updates
Addons are delivered as downloads from your account. Download links are individually signed and expire after a short period; you can generate a fresh link at any time while your entitlement is active. Each download is logged against your entitlement.
Many sellers publish through GitHub, and new releases are mirrored automatically into new marketplace versions with their changelog and a checksum. Verify the checksum if integrity matters to you.
Unless the listing says otherwise, your purchase includes access to future versions of that addon at no extra cost. It does not guarantee that future versions will exist, that they will support later Unreal Engine releases, or that they will keep any particular feature. Sellers may retire an addon. If an addon is retired you keep the versions you were entitled to, and we will keep them downloadable for at least 12 months after retirement.
Engine compatibility is stated per version on the listing. An addon that supports a given Unreal Engine version is not thereby promised to support any other.
9.9. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase where the addon does not work as described, is materially different from its listing, or you have not made substantial use of it.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method. A full refund of an item revokes the entitlement and ends the licence for that item.
Nothing in the Refund Policy or in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights where digital content is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose or not as described, and your right to cancel a distance contract where that right has not been validly waived.
10.10. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Attempt to gain access to any part of the site, another user's account, or any addon you have not licensed.
- Probe, scan or test the security of the site, or interfere with its operation, other than through a responsible disclosure to [email protected].
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site or its catalogue except as permitted by our robots.txt.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent licence keys, entitlement checks, download expiry or any other technical protection.
- Use the site to distribute malware, or to upload anything unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, or infringing.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate a seller, a partner or us.
- Post reviews you were paid to post, reviews of your own products, or reviews intended to damage a competitor rather than inform a buyer.
- Resell access to addons, or operate an account as a shared pool of licences for people who have not bought them.
We may investigate suspected breaches, and we may remove content, suspend access or terminate an account where we reasonably conclude that a breach has occurred.
11.11. Reviews and other content you submit
You may post reviews, ratings and other content. You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the marketplace, and to allow the relevant seller to read and respond to it.
Reviews must be your genuine opinion based on real use. We label reviews from verified purchases. We may remove a review that breaches these terms, and we may remove one that contains personal data, abuse or off-topic disputes, but we do not remove reviews merely because a seller dislikes them.
You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the rights to post it.
12.12. Intellectual property
Addons remain the property of their sellers or their licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of an addon to you; you receive the licence described in section 7 and nothing more.
The site itself, including its software, design, text, and the NarrativePro Addons name and marks, belongs to us or our licensors. Narrative Tools names and marks belong to their owner and are used under the distribution arrangement referred to in section 1.
If you believe material on the site infringes your rights, write to [email protected] identifying the work, the specific listing or content, your contact details, and a statement that you hold the rights or act for the rights holder. We operate a repeat-infringer policy and will terminate the accounts of sellers who infringe repeatedly.
[COUNSEL] Confirm whether a formal DMCA agent designation is required in addition to this notice-and-takedown process, and how it interacts with the EU Digital Services Act notice mechanism.
13.13. Third-party services
The site depends on third parties, including payment providers, an object storage provider, an email provider and a source hosting provider. Their availability is not within our control, and links from the site to third-party resources are not endorsements.
Unreal Engine is a product of Epic Games and its use is governed by Epic's own licence. Nothing here grants you rights in Unreal Engine, and we are not affiliated with Epic Games.
14.14. Disclaimers
We provide the site with reasonable skill and care, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may suspend it for maintenance.
Addons are supplied as they are. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except for the warranties expressly given in these terms, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions in relation to addons, including implied terms as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that any addon is free of defects, secure, compatible with your project or engine version, or suitable for production use. Test before you ship, and keep backups.
If you are a consumer, this section does not limit the statutory rights you have in respect of digital content supplied to you. Those rights apply regardless of what this section says.
15.15. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss or corruption of data, or any indirect or consequential loss, however arising.
Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the addon giving rise to the claim in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 100 units of the currency of the transaction.
We are not liable for the acts or omissions of a seller, for an addon's effect on your project, or for your failure to test an addon before relying on it.
If you are a consumer, we are not liable for loss you suffer in the course of a business, and nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.
[COUNSEL] The cap needs checking against UK and EU consumer law before publication, and against what our insurance actually covers. The business-user cap and the consumer cap may need to be split into separate clauses.
16.16. Indemnity (business users)
If you are using the site in the course of a business, you will indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of an addon, or content you submit to the site. This section does not apply to consumers.
17.17. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access, or revoke an entitlement, if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to do so by law, if your payment is reversed or disputed, or if we reasonably suspect fraud or activity that puts other users at risk.
Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put things right first. Where the breach is serious, or where delay would cause harm, we may act immediately.
You may stop using the site and close your account at any time.
Termination does not affect rights and liabilities that accrued before it, and sections 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 20 survive.
18.18. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the service, in our partners, or in the law. The current version and its effective date are always published here.
For material changes affecting registered account holders we will give at least 30 days' notice by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the change. If you do not accept it, close your account; licences you have already paid for continue under the terms in force when you bought them.
19.19. General
These terms, together with the Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and, for sellers, the Seller Agreement, are the whole agreement between us on their subject matter.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues in force. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
You may not assign your rights under these terms without our consent. We may assign ours to a successor in connection with a reorganisation or sale of the business, provided your rights are not diminished.
Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms, except that our revenue partners may rely on the limitations in sections 14 and 15 to the extent claims are made against them in connection with the marketplace.
We are not liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
20.20. Governing law and disputes
[GOVERNING LAW PLACEHOLDER - TO BE SETTLED BY COUNSEL]
The intended position, subject to confirmation, is that these terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
That position must be reconciled with two facts before it is published. First, one of our revenue partners is a German entity, so an EU establishment is part of the operating group. Second, a consumer resident in an EU member state or in the United Kingdom generally cannot be deprived of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of their own country, or of the right to bring proceedings there. The published clause must say so expressly.
[COUNSEL] Settle: (a) the contracting entity and its jurisdiction; (b) the governing law and forum clause; (c) the consumer carve-out wording; (d) whether to name an EU online dispute resolution route or an alternative dispute resolution body, and if so which.
